In a 4-3 vote, the Mesa City Council has decided not to accept significant pay raises proposed by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce and public safety unions, The Arizona Republic reported.
The decision came on the heels of an announced $75,000 controversial raise for Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos, but the council majority nixed the pay raise
Saying many people are still struggling financially and when the national financial picture is uncertain with the “fiscal cliff” situation.
Mayor Scott Smith and council members David Richins and Dennis Kavanaugh were on the losing side of the vote.
