The state Attorney General’s Office has requested a criminal investigation of Arizona Registrar of Contractors Director Jeff Fleetham — the fifth agency appointee of Gov. Doug Ducey to come under official scrutiny in a little over a year — records obtained by The Arizona Republic show.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will conduct the probe, which is based on a complaint against Fleetham.
The Attorney General’s Office, citing a conflict of interest because it represents the Registrar of Contractors, requested that the County Attorney’s Office carry out the investigation. Neither the Attorney General or County Attorney’s Office would disclose the nature of the investigation.
