Several residents of the Ellsworth Suburban Mini-farms are objecting to a proposed change to the General Plan at Queen Creek Station, complaining it does not preserve their rural lifestyle to the extent they were promised in the current plan approved by the Town Council in 2007.
Ellsworth Suburban Mini-farms is a development of 5- and 6-acre properties directly north of the 1,139-acre master-planned community of Queen Creek Station.
Fulton Homes is acting as the applicant for the proposed change in concert with the other owners of the parcel.
The council was set to vote on the proposed change to the General Plan on Dec.5 but postponed the vote to next Wednesday in order to hold another public hearing.
The residents’ objections focus on the portion of property directly south of the mini-farms and Ryan Road.
At the time the current plan was approved, the then-developer proposed a 300-foot open space directly to the south of the farms, and an additional 100 feet below that is right-of-way. This area would create a buffer between the two developments. The current zoning is one home per acre.
