Major League Baseball is so alarmed by equipment breakdowns at Chase Field that the Diamondbacks could be forced to leave the facility, a team attorney warned on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks contend that since Maricopa County is acting landlord of the facility, it should be responsible for the nearly $187 million in repairs that the team says are needed.

Maricopa County’s attorney claims the equipment breakdowns at Chase Field are cosmetic and ‘have nothing to do’ with the ongoing lawsuit. As for the broken pipe that the Diamondbacks cited in court filings, Maricopa County representatives said “when a pipe breaks, it is a Diamondbacks problem.”
