[COLUMN] The Wright Perspective: Major sports event drought to hit Phoenix

Give Phoenix credit; the Valley of the Sun has been one of the most attractive metro areas in the nation for hosting major sporting events. But it’s not going to see some of those events for the next few years, which has some concerned about the hit to the greater Phoenix economy.

On Wednesday, it became clear that one of those events — the college football national championship game — won’t make its way to Phoenix in the near future.
