For Gregg Good, a 1988 graduate of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, studying at a prestigious business school “nestled in a quiet little corner of Phoenix,” was part of what made the experience so special.
“There was a certain pride that students felt that they were in such a unique environment,” he said. “At the time I was there in the late 80s, Glendale looked nothing like it does now. There wasn’t all the development, the stadiums. I was living in Scottsdale and had to drive on surface streets to get over there, but it was awesome.”
But the school, housed on a 76-year-old former air base on 59th Avenue and Greenway Road in Glendale, will be moving to a new state-of-the-art building in 2021. While the move has led some alumni to feel the school is losing its identity, school officials and former students agree that it’s a necessary step for ensuring the continued success of Thunderbird.
