SRP board members twice violated Open Meeting Law, Arizona attorney general says

Salt River Project’s elected officials twice violated the state Open Meeting Law, and the utility must conduct extra training for those officials, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

In February and March, a former board member and a current board member made separate complaints to the Attorney General’s Office regarding emails SRP officials exchanged that discussed the pending retirement of CEO Mark Bonsall and compensation for executives.

SRP is a public utility governed by a president, vice president and 14 board members who are elected by people who own property in SRP territory. Those officials are subject to the state Open Meeting Law, Assistant Attorney General Ann Hobart said in a Dec. 6 letter.
