Sen. David Farnsworth, R-Mesa, believes easing regulations on home-based businesses can help jumpstart the economy, so he has introduced two bills aimed at making it easier for entrepreneurs to start businesses in their home.
“I really believe that the strength of America is small businesses, and as I contemplated the Great Recession as we were going through it, I was of the opinion that if we could relax requirements that entrepreneurs across Arizona and across the country were dealing with, they would start a lot of businesses which would invigorate the economy,” he said.
SB1001 would prohibit county governments from restricting business owners who hold a valid business license from using more than 50 percent of the square footage of their home to conduct business, or from using a garage or an enclosed structure on the property that is 400 square feet or smaller to house their business.
