Housing share of GDP

With the release of the final estimate of fourth quarter 2017 GDP growth (a 2.5% annual growth rate), housing’s share of gross domestic product (GDP) rose slightly to 15.4%. The home building and remodeling component – residential fixed investment – also increased slightly, rising to 3.5%.Housing-related activities contribute to GDP in two basic ways.
