London Bridge Resort scored a key court victory this month in its ongoing property battles with Adventure Center Inc., but the watercraft business owner called that decision “ridiculous,” saying he’s looking forward to stating his case at trial — if that’s needed.
Earlier this month, the Arizona Court of Appeals reversed a Mohave County Superior Court decision that said the Resort had no authority to exercise over fellow Bridgewater Channel business, Adventure Center.
The Court of Appeals determined that the Resort and Adventure Center did have a valid lease about the use of the seawall, which they said the Resort owned, and the attorney’s fees and costs for this matter — $15,547.50 — were to be paid by Adventure Center. The court did say that the ownership of the docks underneath the watercraft business is an open question.
Yes, the resort could evict Adventure Center as a result of the Court of Appeals decision, said Resort General Manager Cal Sheehy. But there’s no intent to do that at the moment, he added.
“We’ll continue on with the rest of the suit with the goal being regaining control of the property as quickly as possible,” Sheehy said.
“I’m not giving up on that location,” said Adventure Center owner Chris Hansen. “I won’t be bullied out (of the spot).”
