The initiative campaign advocating for clean energy sent out a complaint on May 15 to two Arizona Republicans claiming they filed false documents, committed perjury and for abuse of process.

The Clean Energy for a Healthy Arizona campaign is asking the Arizona Secretary of State and Attorney General’s offices to investigate if state Sen. John Kavanagh (R-Fountain Hills) and Rep. Vincent Leach (R-Tucson) knowingly filed false documents against the campaign.

“I think our opponents know this is going to pass and so what they trying to do is create a false impression in the minds of the public that there is something illegal going on,” said Rodd McLeod, a spokesman for the clean energy campaign.

At the center of the clean energy campaign’s complaint is that Leach forwarded a false declaration made by Noah Murdock. Murdock claimed in his testimony that FieldWorkds LLC, the circulator company the campaign is using, did not intend to hire him as a petition circulator.
