Fred DuVal says there is a “high probability” that he will officially begin his campaign for governor later this month.
DuVal, a former regent, former Clinton White House aide and longtime Democratic operative, said he expects to file his campaign committee with the Secretary of State’s Office by the end of February.
A web address, www.duvalforgovernor.com, which DuVal said was reserved by a supporter in October, now redirects visitors to www.fred2014.com. The bare-bones website informs visitors that they have reached the future home of fred2014.com.
DuVal told Arizona Capitol Times that he is moving closer to his official entry into the race. He still has several steps to take before officially forming a campaign committee, he said, including finding a chairman and treasurer, and creating a bank account for his campaign. He said he also has yet to decide whether he will run with public or private campaign funding.
