Phoenix gets $30M grant to remake Edison-Eastlake neighborhood east of downtown. The ‘drastic reshape’ includes “demolishing” three “decrepit public-housing projects” — “Frank Luke Homes, A.L. Johnson Utilities now applying to expand plant it planned to close. “When Johnson Utilities announced in June that it would close the troubled Section 11 wastewater treatment plant and construct a Copper Basin Water Reclamation Plant, local activists expressed skepticism.” Now, with JU’s application “for a permit to expand capacity at the Section 11 plant,” it has “become clear the plant won’t close anytime soon.” PinalCentral. http://bit.ly/2NBnZmq

Navajo utility proposes solar project near Cameron. “[L]ast year, the 120,000 photovoltaic solar panels at the Kayenta Solar Plant went operational, becoming the first utility-scale solar plant on the Navajo Nation. Government to decide whether to re-try bribery case after mistrial. Last week, a jury deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial in the “‘Ghost Lobby’ bribery trial” of Gary Pierce, his wife, Sherry Pierce, lobbyist Jim Norton and utility owner George Johnson. “Now, the government may opt to try the case again.
