ACC approves appointment of interim manager at Johnson Utilities

After months of hearings and deliberations, action has been taken on the future of a San Tan Valley utility.

The Arizona Corporation Commission voted unanimously to appoint an interim manager for Johnson Utilities, with Commissioner Andy Tobin recusing himself. The commission still has to determine who the manager will be.

Staff has received requests from Global Water Resources, Southwest Gas, EPCOR Utilities and a joint request from the towns of Florence and Queen Creek to be interim managers.

“All applicants are qualified,” Utilities Division Director Elijah Abinah said.

Staff recommended EPCOR.
