Glendale’s leaders will take the wheel for many transportation decisions in the Valley this coming year.
The city’s vice mayor, Lauren Tolmachoff, and mayor, Jerry Weiers, were both elected to leadership positions of regional transportation bodies last month and began serving July 1.
Ms. Tolmachoff, who represents Glendale’s Cholla District, now serves as chair of the board of directors for the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority, more commonly known as just Valley Metro. Mayor Weiers is now the vice chair of another regional transportation body, the Regional Council of the Maricopa Association of Governments’ Transportation Policy Committee.
