The rate hike the Corporation Commission approved for Arizona Public Service Co. ayear ago is costing customers almost three times as much money as the company said, critics seeking a rehearing in the case said.
The Arizona Public Service customers asking for a do-over on the rate case recently submitted testimony to the Corporation Commission they say shows the rate hike had a much bigger impact on customer bills, nearly $17 a month, than the $6 a month APS described.
And last week, Arizona Public Service parent company Pinnacle West Capital Corp. reported a figure that APS critics said shows the company is raking in more than double the amount anticipated from the rate hike.
Arizona Public Service officials maintain that the rate hike was reasonable and has increased bills exactly as the company predicted.
