Northern Arizona University is in talks to buy the parcel of land that was previously home to the Super Pawn shop and the Mandarin Buffet.

The Arizona Board of Regents gave its tentative approval for the $7.9 million purchase of the parcel at a meeting on Sept. 13, and is expected to give their official approval in anticipation of the purchase next week. ABOR will be at NAU Sept. 27 and 28 for its next meeting.

The 1.88-acre property is already bordered on two sides by the university, by Milton Road on its western edge and by the Embassy Suites by Hilton to the south.
