After yet another lackluster season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are slashing payroll
No, not of the coaching staff, which oversaw a team that reigned in first place … until it actually mattered.
No, not of the players, who pretty much took September off as they sunk to third place, relinquishing the division’s top spot to the despised Dodgers.
Instead, the Arizona Diamondbacks – a franchise Forbes values at $1.21 billion – is cutting the pay of those goofy bobble-headed guys who race around the bases and others who by season’s end (sadly) provided far more entertainment than the guys in gloves.
