Plans for a new hotel are underway after the Scottsdale City Council adopted a zoning district map amendment, changing a previously-approved development plan for a vacant lot in south Scottsdale.

Originally, the development plan called for a mixed-use development called Diamondback Commons to go on the 36,788-square-foot lot at 7312 E. Thomas Road. Instead, the new owner wants to build a three-story hotel with 44 guest rooms and two residential units.

The approval of this change, and the adoption of the Country Inn Hotel Development Plan into public records, came at the council’s Tuesday, Nov. 13 meeting at City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
