The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community welcomed a familiar face to lead its nine-member tribal council during an inauguration ceremony Saturday.
Chief Justice Ryan Andrews administered the oath of office to new President Martin Harvier, who was elected the 25th president of the Salt River community in September, in front of local and state officials and tribal members in the packed-to-capacity Grand Ballroom at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale.
The Salt River community also welcomed newly elected Vice President Ricardo Leonard, incumbent councilmen Michael Dallas, Sr. and Thomas Largo, Sr., and new council members Cheryl Doka and Diane Enos, who were also elected in the September general election.
