House Democrats told GOP Gov. Jan Brewer they would support her sales-tax reform measure if three points of disagreement can be resolved.
But their conditions hinge on the major provisions of House Bill 2657.
In a letter to the governor, the Democrats said they want to ensure that local cities and counties will not lose sales-tax money due to a change in the construction sales tax.
The governor’s plan would shift collection of that tax to the locale where construction materials are purchased, as opposed to where a project is built.
The 24-member caucus also wants changes to the bill’s single-audit provision and to the operation of an online system for collecting sales taxes.
