A record number of passengers flew in and out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2018.

The Valley’s primary airport saw a total of 44,943,686 passengers in 2018, according to data released Tuesday by the city of Phoenix Aviation Department. That was a 2.3 percent increase compared to 2017 and surpassed the previous record of 44,006,205 in 2015.

The busiest months at Sky Harbor last year were March with 4.38 million passengers, May with 3.90 million and April with 3.86 million.

City and Sky Harbor officials contribute the success in 2018 to the state’s robust economy and the appeal of Arizona as a travel destination.
