Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill says he’s working with Glendale to move the team’s training camp to the West Valley.

Bidwill said the deal isn’t done, but on Thursday he played the idea up to about 300 people in Glendale before Mayor Jerry Weiers’ State of the City address.

Bidwill said moving the camp from Flagstaff would be easier for fans.

The team would train at University of Phoenix Stadium, where they have played since 2006.

The Cardinals have trained in Flagstaff since moving to Arizona from St. Louis in 1988.

The team’s contract with Northern Arizona University expired, and the Cardinals sought proposals from interested cities.

NAU had hoped to keep the team practicing there, which they estimated brings a $10 million economic benefit to the region.
