Lennar looks to bring high-tech, Amazon-enabled ‘Connected Homes’ to Apache Junction

Lennar Homes (NYSE: LEN) is looking to bring new high-tech homes to Apache Junction.

The Apache Junction City Council is slated to vote tonight on rezoning land near Old West Highway, Southern Avenue and Goldfield Road.

The land totals 35.47 acres and is currently zoned for commercial use. The council will consider rezoning residential for a 179-lot single-family, development.

Lennar wants to bring its high-tech ‘Connected Homes’ to a new development called Goldview.

The home concept features wireless access points built into the home during construction, smart thermostats and lighting, doorbell cameras and electronic keys. The homes are outfitted with Samsung technology and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) sends service teams to set up applications after buyers move in.
