Pinal budgets almost $1M for economic development

Pinal County’s economic development budget in the new fiscal year will be almost $1 million, including $325,466 in new funding, among other new county budget requests which the Board of Supervisors approved on Wednesday.

A study for developing a “high-tech corridor” between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona was moved out of Economic Development Manager Tim Kanavel’s budget to Planning and Development.

“It’s going to be done, it’s just going to be done by a different department,” Kanavel said.

The corridor would extend down I-10 from Riggs Road, through the Gila River Indian Community, through Casa Grande, on I-8 to Attesa (motor sports complex) and south to Marana.
