Scottsdale City Council approved a measure yesterday asking the Federal Aviation Administration to move flight paths at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Scottsdale wants the FAA to move flight paths eastward to mitigate noise and other complaints from some residents. The city will send two suggested flight path changes to the FAA. One would have flight routes completely to the east of Scottsdale, another would have the paths on the city’s eastern edge.
The former would take flight more over the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
The FAA is accepting public comments on Sky Harbor flight paths through May 23.
The city of Phoenix sued the FAA in 2017 and obtained some changes to Sky Harbor flight paths adopted in 2014.
