Phoenix looks at the future of Sky Harbor International Airport

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Reporter

The Phoenix City Council will be briefed today on $5.7 billion in potential long-term construction and development projects at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The city of Phoenix owns and runs Sky Harbor. City staff will present a 20-year plan for the airport.

One long-term project could be a new $675 million West Terminal building, according to city plans.

Other potential projects include $310 million for a concourse expansion at Terminal 4, $177.7 million for a new north concourse in the recently renovated Terminal 3 and $220 million to relocate a Union Pacific railroad line into a 30-foot deep trench.

The railroad project would open more airport land for aviation use.

Sky Harbor plans will also be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration.
