State officials are moving forward with large annexation plans in Apache Junction.

State Land Department officials briefed Gov. Doug Ducey and State Treasurer Kimberly Yee on allowing the city of Apache Junction to annex 6,687 acres of State Trust Land in Pinal County near Elliot Road and State Route 24.

The land could be slated for development.

Ducey and Yee were briefed on State Land deals during the annual meeting of the State Selection Board on Wednesday.

That annual meeting allows top state executives to be briefed and give the go ahead on State Land annexation deals with cities.
