Solar plant planned for tribal land

Preliminary plans are being made for the construction of a utility-scale solar electric generating facility on Fort Mojave Indian tribal land in California and Arizona, confirmed Alan Bernheimer, public relations director for First Solar, the project developer.

Ft. Mohave“It’s in the early stages of development,” Bernheimer told the Laughlin Nevada Times last week, in response to an inquiry regarding a legal notice published in the Times in the March 13 edition. That notice described the intent of Tribal Solar, LLC to submit an application to the Nevada Public Utilities Commission for permission to construct a 230kV transmission line from the solar plant to the switchyard at the defunct Mohave Generating Station Substation in Laughlin.
