The city of Glendale is considering selling the Glendale Memorial Park Cemetery.
The cemetery — which is located west of Grand Avenue and north of Glendale Avenue — was established in 1900. The city of Glendale took over ownership of the cemetery in 1962.
The city has lost money operating and maintaining the cemetery and has solicited offers from potential private buyers.
Glendale received one offer from Bullhead City-based Serenity Memorial Group. The company operates funeral homes, a cemetery and crematory in Mohave County. It offered Glendale $100,000.
The city and Serenity divide up a $3.8 million fund the city has established to maintain the cemetery. Serenity also has broader plans to expand into metro Phoenix, according to Glendale city documents
The Glendale City Council will be briefed on the potential sale at a meeting Aug. 13.
