The city of Mesa is considering a Government Property Lease Excise Tax deal for a planned $37.8 million new apartment redevelopment of a shuttered shopping center at Alma School Road and Southern Avenue.

W.R. Grace Companies is redeveloping the property with plans for a 220-unit apartment complex called the Landing at Fiesta Village

The 10.2-acre site is near Fiesta Mall which is also slated for redevelopment.

The Mesa City Council is scheduled to consider a GPLET deal for the apartments and zoning changes for the redevelopment at its meeting on August 26. GPLET deals offer property tax benefits to developers and builders.
