Gilbert eyes solar energy deal with SRP

The town of Gilbert is looking at forging a solar energy deal with Salt River Project to buy as much as 2.5-Megawatts of solar power.

The Gilbert Town Council will vote on authorizing the deal with SRP at its meeting tomorrow.

The power would come from a 100-megawatt solar plant SRP is building in Eloy.

The deal entails Gilbert buying 1.8-MW of solar power from SRP with an option to go up to 2.5-MW.
