APS is squeezing its captive customers for huge profits. Here’s yet another reason why the Corporation Commission should wake up and put a stop to it.

Need another reason to question why the state allows Arizona Public Service to squeeze more than a half a billion dollars a year in profit from its customers who have no choice but to pay it?
Well, I’ll tell you.
But first, can I just say that it’s time – past time, really – for the Arizona Corporation Commission to ponder the gusher of customer cash flowing to a monopoly utility whose CEO makes more in a month than the head of Salt River Project makes in a year.
Time – past time, really – for our regulators to stand up to the utility that spent nearly $15 million, most of it secretly, to engineer the election of its favored commissioners in 2014 and 2016 then just coincidentally won a $95 million rate increase in 2017.
All this, while laughing all the way to the bank.
