Lake Mead ended 2019 with a higher level than projected meaning the most extreme water conservation measures won’t take affect, authorities said.
The year began in January with a projection that Lake Mead would end the year below an elevation level of 1,075 feet, pushing the Colorado River Basin into a first-ever Tier 1 shortage.
With the passage of the Drought Contingency Plan, a new shortage level was created – Tier Zero, which begins at Lake Mead elevation 1,090 feet.
