Phoenix – WinCo Foods LLC in Boise, Idaho plans to employ 300 workers in a new 800,000-square-foot warehouse facility the company is developing in west Phoenix. The company paid just under $11.996 million to buy a 74-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Buckeye Road and 75th Avenue. The seller was Swift Transportation Co. of Arizona LLC in Phoenix (Jerry Moyes, principal). The buyer in the cash transaction was represented by Ed Beeh, Chuck Gibson and Robbie Petty of SRS Real Estate Partners in Phoenix. The seller was represented by Wayne Uhlir of Arizona Industrial Advisors in Phoenix. Sources say the employee-owned discount grocer wants to start construction on the new warehouse by May 2013. Completion expected to take 12 months. The civil engineer is Wood, Patel & Associates Inc. in Phoenix. ESI Group in Milwaukee, Wis. will serve as design builder and will oversee the construction.
