Arizona ranks 43rd for unemployment claims growth during COVID

Arizona ranks 23rd among U.S. states for the latest weekly increase in new unemployment insurance filings. Arizona ranks 43rd among U.S. states for the overall rise in new unemployment claims since the COVID-19 brought much of the economy to a stop. The pandemic has cost the U.S. economy 33.5 million jobs.

The state rankings were released this morning by WalletHub.

Florida had the biggest jump in UI claims for the most recent week. Montana had the least.

Georgia has had the biggest jumps new unemployment claims since the virus started. WalletHub looked at new UI filings compared to a year ago. Connecticut has seen the lowest growth in unemployment claims, according to WalletHub.
