Scottsdale asked to extend hours for medical marijuana dispensaries

The city of Scottsdale is being asked to extend hours of operations for medical marijuana dispensaries.

Medical cannabis dispensaries in Scottsdale currently operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city is being asked to allow dispensaries to stay open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Harvest Health & Recreation Inc. (which operates Harvest House of Cannabis) is requesting the extended hours. The longer hours would apply to all dispensaries in Scottsdale.

Lauren Niehaus, government relations specialist for Harvest Health, said other Valley cities including Tempe allow the medical marijuana dispensaries to stay open until 10 p.m.

Niehaus said the longer hours allows patients more time to visit and shop at dispensaries.

She said the proposal needs go through the public approval process including approval by the Scottsdale City Council. That would likely mean the longer hours, if approved, would start in the fall.
