Arizona private school likely first in state to require students to wear masks

Brophy College Prep in Phoenix will require both students and staff to wear masks on campus when school resumes in the fall. The private Jesuit school announced the plan to require masks on Thursday. It appears to be the first Arizona school to issue such a requirement in response to the coronavirus epidemic.

“It has been proven that masks are effective deterrents to spreading the disease; thus, we will require faculty, staff, and students to wear masks while on campus,” officials wrote in a statement posted to the school’s website. “We ask our families to do the same when they go to public places.”
