‘Stars aligned’ to get Trump, Rep. Raul Grijalva on same side of issue

Rep. Raul Grijalva found rare common ground with President Donald Trump this week on a key environmental-preservation bill into law, not that either man wanted to give the other much credit.

Trump signed into law Tuesday the Great American Outdoors Act, authorizing legislation that is expected to nearly eliminate a $12 billion maintenance backlog within the National Park Service and create permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Trump marked the occasion with a signing ceremony, attended only by Republican lawmakers, including Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., and in which he compared himself to former President Theodore Roosevelt.
