Bella Vista College Preparatory Academy in Scottsdale is preparing to reopen for in-person classes in September.
HealthyVerify Certification (HVC) is helping Bella Vista get ready for the new school year and is working with the school so its premier high school basketball and other sports teams can also eventually play games.
“They are helping with planning for that,” said Don Brown, director at Bella Vista. The private school usually has 85 to 100 students, but Brown said that is being reduced to 55 to 60 students to help with social distancing and other COVID-19 best practices. “We still have some limited spaces,” Brown said of enrollment spots that are open for the new school year.
Brown said HealthyVerify is helping the school’s international students on their potential returns to Arizona and the school’s effort to develop, design and implement best practices to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.
Scottsdale-based HealthyVerify is the only independent medically based, scientific, and professional certification company in the U.S. helping reduce the risk of COVID-19. The company helps its clients go above and beyond U.S. Centers for Disease Control and other guidelines and recommendations for curbing the spread of COVID-19. HVC partners with infectious disease experts from the Barrow Neurological Institute and researchers at Arizona State University to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases including COVID. Brown said HealthyVerify’s recommendations and certification are helping the school have confidence as it looks to reopen.
HVC has also worked with the Scottsdale Unified School District, Avondale Elementary School District, Isaac School District, Tolleson Elementary School District, and others on their health safety efforts as schools figure out when and how to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brown said he contacted HealthyVerify after seeing the Arizona company was working with other school districts. “We called immediately,” he said.
HVC is also helping the City of Goodyear, the Phoenix Rising FC soccer team, Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona, and others develop and implement best practices to curb COVID.
HealthyVerify is helping Bella Vista with social distancing, mandatory mask, and cohorting polices. The latter entails keeping groups of students and teacher together throughout the school day to limit the possibility of COVID spread. Students will also eat lunch outside, and the private school is joining a telemedicine pilot project that will help with health assessments for students and staff.
