Former Sen. Jeff Flake, former Rep. Jim Kolbe throw support behind Joe Biden

Former Sen. Jeff Flake is leading a group of more than two dozen former Republican members of Congress who are backing Democrat Joe Biden over Republican President Donald Trump, a list that includes former Rep. Jim Kolbe.

The effort, first reported by Fox News, comes on the first day of the Republican National Convention and is intended to underscore a deep split with the members, at least some of who have left the GOP in recent years.

Flake, R-Ariz., is expected to discuss the move in remarks from Arizona this morning. Flake and Kolbe are the most visible faces of an effort that also includes some former staffers for the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who also had many public spats with Trump.
