Arizona ranks well in a new study ranking the best and worst states for gender equality.
Arizona ranks 5th among U.S. states for equality for women. The rankings from financial research firm WalletHub look at indicators such as entrepreneurship for women, gender pay and other economic gaps, and political representation.
Only Hawaii, Maine, Nevada, and New Mexico rank higher overall.
Arizona also ranks fifth among U.S. states for women entrepreneurs.
Politically, both of Arizona’s U.S. Senators (Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally) are women. Women also serve in other key political posts including Secretary of State (Katie Hobbs), Mayor of Phoenix (Kate Gallego), and Superintendent of Public Instruction (Kathy Hoffman).
Utah, Wyoming, Texas, and Louisiana rank lowest on WalletHub’s Women’s Equality list.
California ranks 10th on the list while New York comes in 7th.
