COOLIDGE — The city’s new boxing and fitness center received an opening round warm welcome from the Coolidge City Council on Monday night.

“There were a number of us at the grand opening, and there were quite a few people from Florence there,” Mayor Jon Thompson, at the conclusion of Monday’s council meeting, said of the Aug. 17 function at Robles Boxing & Fitness Center. “They were there to wish that Florence business well in Coolidge. They weren’t overly happy that they’d left, but we were sure glad to get them over here. So that’s good. They did comment that it was much easier to open a business in Coolidge that it was in Florence.”

The Robles gym is not the only new business to encounter more cooperation in Coolidge, Thompson then said.
