Gilbert could restrict trucks in Heritage District

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Town of Gilbert is looking at restricting truck traffic in its popular Heritage District.

The Gilbert Town Council will consider a plan to restrict truck traffic on Gilbert Road between Guadalupe Road and Elliot Road.

The concern is that trucks traveling through the Heritage District add to traffic congestion and cause concerns for pedestrians.

The District is home to a number of restaurants and bars as well as hiking areas and events such as farmers markets.

The Gilbert Council could remove the area as a designate truck route at its September 15th meeting.

Trucks would still be able to use other major surface streets in Gilbert.
