One of the key groups that pressured Arizona to end its COVID-19 lockdowns has planned its first overt political rally for Saturday at the state Capitol, hoping to turn the passion fueled by the shutdown into votes for certain Republican candidates.
Scheduled speakers include a woman who became famous for refusing to wear a mask on an airline flight and a woman who has compared mask mandates to discrimination against the disabled.
The rally, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, has been organized by Great State Alliance, the new name of the group Great 48!, which put together a string of protest actions demanding that Gov. Doug Ducey rescind his orders that shut down most businesses due to public health concerns.
