Election Roundup: Senate President Pierce faces independent challenger

The Legislative District 1 Senate seat didn’t have a primary race, but now incumbent Republican Arizona Senate President Steve Pierce will face Independent Tom Rawles in the Nov. 6 general.

The newly drawn LD1 now includes part of the Valley of the Sun, but excludes a portion of the Verde Valley.

The winners of the two LD1 House seats were decided in the primary. Incumbents Andy Tobin and Karen Fann won.
