Kingman P&Z starts general plan work this week

Kingman, Arizona

The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission is poised to start the lengthy process of updating Kingman’s general plan Tuesday.

The first step for the commission is to review the city’s goals, objectives and policies and decide whether or not to revise them based on current events and circumstances.

From the land use element of the current general plan to the cost of development, the commission will go through the numerous portions of the plan, looking for ways to make it more relevant to the times.

The most recent census, several major annexations and the change to the city’s growth rate prompted city staff to recommend the commission update the plan rather than just readopt it.
