Nuke waste memo still misused

Another independent expenditure group has popped up in the Legislative District 6 race, focusing on Republican Senate candidate Chester Crandell.

Revitalize Arizona, chaired by former Democratic Secretary of State candidate Israel Torres, has poured $40,000 into a series of mailers. One attacks Crandell’s position on nuclear waste storage and three mailers champion the accomplishments of his rival, Flagstaff Democrat and state Rep. Tom Chabin.

The ad is similar to a mailer sent out by another independent expenditure group, Preserving Arizona’s Future, attacking fellow Republican State Rep. Brenda Barton’s position on storing toxic waste in the Grand Canyon State.

Preserving Arizona’s Future, chaired by State Sen. David Lujan, has recently spent more than $24,000 on mailers attacking the two Republican House candidates, Bob Thorpe and Barton.
