Watchdog group finds Mohave County uncooperative

KINGMAN — Arizona counties saw assessed values from homes drop for the third year in a row.

Property values continued to decline in many counties but some counties saw their general fund budgets increase because of the growth in sales tax revenues. The Arizona Tax Research Association said they met with county officials from every county this year except Mohave County in drafting its 2012-13 report.

Research analyst Ben Nowicki said ATRA has contacted Mohave County each year but county officials have not cooperated with the association in the past several years. He points to the contentiousness of Mohave County Manager Ron Walker, who is resigning in December. Because of the lack of cooperation, the county’s data is not as complete as the other counties, Nowicki said.
