Denny Barney, left, and Steve Chucri

Two new Maricopa County elected leaders will take office next week, bringing fresh faces to the Board of Supervisors for the first time in about a decade.

Longtime Supervisors Fulton Brock and Don Stapley have finished their terms and returned to the private sector. Denny Barney and Steve Chucri, respectively, will replace them.

Barney, a Gilbert Republican, will represent the county’s District 1 in the southeast Valley. That district includes Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, Sun Lakes and parts of Phoenix, Gilbert and Mesa.

Mesa Republican Chucri will represent East Valley District 2, which includes Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, Carefree, Mesa, Scottsdale and parts of Gilbert and Paradise Valley.
